Learn to loosen up and let go of expectations and judgement, art is not always about accurate representation.

Experimental art is a fun series of art making exercises. A playful class of exploring your creativity through painting, mark making, collage and drawing. Let go of preconceived ideas, standards or expectations about your finished product. Anyone can do this regardless of previous art experience, all one needs to bring is a willingness to experiment. We explore together in a supportive space which inspires spontaneity, discovery and fun.

YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Let go of expectations and judgement, art is not always about accurate representation. Challenge your perception of what art is

  • Discover the joy of making marks

  • Slow down and really see, to enable you to draw.

  • See the world around you and its potential though your inner artist

  • Exercises that allow you creative freedom to explore with out expectation of final results

  • Explorative activities on multiple surfaces. They may be paper, mylar, vellum,

  • Using both dry and wet media you will explore mixed media and abstraction drawing techniques

  • Experiment with all kinds of media and materials as well as a variety of techniques and surfaces.

SKILLS YOU WILL LEARN

  • Observational and experimental drawing skills

  • Gain a good understanding of the drawing process 

  • Some surrealist techniques

  • Non traditional drawing skills

  • Experiment with several types of traditional and non traditional drawing media

  • Loosen up your current art practice - whether you use collage with magazines or paint landscapes

  • How to create your own handmade art tools
