Acrylic Paintings.

Acrylic paint is pigment suspended in a plastic polymer emulsion. Used with water they are great for beginner painters. When dry they are permanently affixed to the surface, unlike watercolour which can be lifted. Due to their flexible, plastic nature acrylics are tough and resistant to many environmental factors that would affect other mediums. Acrylics are fast drying which makes working with them a faster process. Acrylic painting is not limited to the paint and pigments but also involves a variety of mediums to alter the viscosity and look of the paint. There are many products on the shelves of stores in the acrylic section. It is an easy medium to get started painting.

I adore acrylic paints for their versatility, fast drying nature, and the ability to water them down to look like water colour. The reason I prefer them over watercolour is they do not lift. They become permanent when dry. This allows me to work in thin layers knowing the underlying layer will not be affected.
