Sketchbook Group

I was recently invited to join a sketchbook exchange—a creative twist on the traditional chain letter.

Here’s how it works: each artist buys or makes a small sketchbook, chooses a theme, and adds their own artwork to get things started. On the first of the month, we mail our sketchbooks to the next artist in the group.

Each month, a different sketchbook arrives, and we create a page inspired by its owner’s theme before sending it along again.

Eventually, my own sketchbook will find its way back to me, filled with a collaborative mix of styles, ideas, and surprises.
